Gas Spring Sample Approval: Five Checks Before Production

A gas spring sample should be checked in the actual mechanism, not approved by appearance alone. Before ordering a batch, agree on the drawing, operating conditions and acceptance criteria. LONGXIANG GAS SPRING recommends recording these five checks so the approved sample and production specification stay aligned.

1. Confirm dimensions and end fittings

Compare the sample with the agreed drawing. Check extended length, stroke, fitting thread, mounting-hole size and measurement reference points. Include the installed fittings when checking mounting length. A similar-looking replacement may not fit the same brackets.

2. Check movement in the assembly

Support the lid safely before installation. Move the mechanism through its intended travel and check clearance around the cylinder, rod and fittings. The gas spring must not jam, twist or carry side loads. Do not use it as the mechanism's mechanical end stop unless this has been specifically engineered.

3. Assess force under defined conditions

Record the load, mounting points, test temperature and the position used for force measurement. Compare samples using the same procedure rather than judging force by hand. Check opening effort and closing effort in the real assembly; a force number alone does not describe the complete lifting behavior.

4. Inspect the rod and connection points

Look for scratches, contamination, damaged threads or loose connections before testing. Keep the piston rod free from paint and avoid gripping it with tools. If a sample binds, leaks or behaves unexpectedly, stop the test and investigate rather than forcing it to move.

5. Keep an approval record

Save the sample identification, drawing revision, photos, test conditions and agreed results. Tell LONGXIANG GAS SPRING if the lid weight, bracket position or operating environment changes. Approval for one assembly should not automatically be treated as approval for a different design.
